Alex’s work with charities
Alex is a digital marketing consultant helping his clients use the web and the latest technology to connect with their customers.
Alex has spent the last 18 months working with Independent Age, a charity helping to tackle loneliness and other issues facing older people. Alex will step down from his role in November but describes the work as some of the most rewarding he has ever done.
Alex says: “old age is something most young people try their best not to think about, but thankfully charities like Independent Age do.
“If somebody in their thirties is bereaved, counselling is readily available. When you’re older, people just see death as part of life so older people have to suffer alone – when actually it’s a time support is needed more than ever.”
Alex has also worked for Action Against Abduction, the charity set up by Lady Catherine Meyer, that helps families ripped apart by abduction.
Locally Alex has supported the St Nicholas Festival which helps children at Christmas, and whenever possible tries to raise money for the Food Bank. He made the news after he and two friends carried out a sponsored weight loss and spent the money they raised on four shopping trollies of goodies for the hungry.
Alex said: “others really need this food, I certainly don’t. Glad to have lost some weight and been able to help out at the same time.”
Alex is always keen to find out about local charities that don’t get much publicity but do amazing work. If you know of one, please get in touch and tell him about it. He may be able to help…
